But on the flip-side, there is an equal chance of the notification dot being attention-seeking more than anything else, especially with apps like Facebook or Instagram. I see an interesting notification on the dot (probably an unimportant one), go into the app and spend (or waste, depending on the context) 10 more minutes reading other stuff — in this case I don’t see it any different from the standard notification.
