Pictures from Bavaria — Zugspitze & Neuschwanstein

Bavaria is the picturesque heartland of Germany nestled in the southern part of the country. The capital of Bavaria is Munich (München in German)

I chose Munich as the base location and took two independent day trips to Zugspitze & Neuschwanstein using public transport.

Day 1— Perched atop a hill, the dreamlike Neuschwanstein Castle stands as a testament to Ludwig II’s romantic vision. The Marienbrücke, or Mary’s Bridge, offers one of the most iconic and picturesque views of Neuschwanstein Castle. Nearby, the regal Hohenschwangau Castle and the serene Lake Alpsee grace the scenery.

Day 2— Zugspitze is Germany’s highest peak and offers breathtaking panoramic views of several surrounding countries. It was a perfectly clear day, and I could enjoy the Alps that extended into Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. The cherry on top was the turquoise and tranquil waters of Lake Eibsee at the foot of the Zugsptise. A commanding view of Eibsee was also seen from the top of Zugsptise.
