Super simple concise guide to beating procrastination

Anything else would not be read

The following are the steps

  1. Get started on something EVERYDAY. Find the minimal amount required to do something. Examples: write title if writing a report, make one change in your code, put on your running shoes, start reading the first line. Try not to break the chain.
  2. You will not accomplish much in the short term but a lot more in the long term if you keep at it everyday. Just like the tech business, you overestimate what you can accomplish in the near term and underestimate what you can accomplish in the long term. Wait for at least 75 days to see an effect.
  3. Have prior rules to deal with interruption after you start your task. Examples: if you need to check email do it at start of the hour, if someone interrupts only respond after completing some amount of work
  4. Try to schedule your work when you have maximum will power. Usually it starts early in the day and drops at the end of the day. Don’t try to schedule difficult tasks at the end of the day. Will power is like a muscle and can be strengthened with daily work

That’s it. Good luck
