A Tour Through The Brooklyn Museum

It’s New York’s third-largest museum in physical size, located in New York’s borough of Brooklyn. It holds art collection with approximately 1.5 million works. It was found in 1895 and was designed by McKim Mead and White. It exhibits European, Egyptian, American, Islamic, Feminist and Japanese art. The museum also has a ”Memorial sculpture garden” which shows recouped architectural elements throughout New York city.

African Art:

On the first floor is the African art collection with more than 5,000 items. It covers 2,500 years of human history that includes sculptures, jewelry, masks and other religious relics from more than 100 African cultures. You can see the Golden rider of the Ashanti region culture in Ghana, Kuba Ndop Portrait, the Kuba artist mask and other works here. You’ll love the color and richness this era especially their masks, made with great intricacy and skillship.

Arts of Asia:

Arts of Asia are presented on the second floor of the building which you can reach through an elevator. It houses more than 350 works from China, Korea and Japan. You can see alot of ink and bronze work in Chinese art collection.
