Readability and User Experience

On Friday evening, I was reading an article where 8 lines of text did not have more than 3 sentences of text — and full of managerial jargon! To give you a picture, a normal paragraph on the web typically should contain not more than 6 lines, in at least 3 sentences (more on this in further blogs).

For a reader, such paragraphs make it nearly impossible to comprehend such stuff, let alone read it verbatim. For them, they always have better options.

Readability forms an a very crucial, but also highly underrated and ignored aspect of user experience. It is the responsibility of the web editors to be constantly vigilant to ensure a non-disruptive user experience.

The planning and directions regarding user experience usually come from the top management. It is the commitment of the users at the highest level that can bring about a change in the way we interact with the web.

I was reading this article as a resource for another article that I am writing myself. I spent about 15 minutes trying to understand the shitty paragraph with my scrunchy eyes. Not all users are that patient!
