JOURNEYMAN
Packed my bags, boxes and crates,
Each with a story, each with a tale.
Your eyes were welled, your tears were dry,
"Promise you’ll write, or send a mail"
But my dear, it’s okay, life’s a Journey,
I’m a journeyman, saying goodbye again.
Rooms, once buzzing, feel empty today,
Gone is the bed where I used to lay,
The posters on the wall, still and jaded,
Memories once fresh, now old and faded.
I’ll remember those nights, wide awake,
I’m a Journeyman, saying goodbye again.
I drift, I wander, a nomad, alone,
Living in a house that’ll never be home.
Another hour, my phone didn’t ring,
Another night, just me and my six strings.
"Just for once!" I hope and pray,
But a journeyman never gets to stay.
The streets are cold, and the moon is lonely.
My walk is slow, wishing, if only...
Her voice it plays, like an old song,
Promises once made, now long gone.
That song I sang, stuck on repeat,
Will keep on playing, hoping we meet.
Maybe one day, I will get the chance,
To play my tunes, to laugh, and dance.
Water in a pail, set to sail,
Stuck in a loop, must be fate.
Time is my enemy, Ticking away,
I’m a Journeyman, and I can never stay.
Find me a reason, it’s been forever!
These silent nights, they give me a fever.
I found some peace, with the sky ablaze,
As the morning star shone on my face!
Spoke too soon, forgive me, can’t stay.
I’m a journeyman, saying goodbye again.
