Silenced, Media Gag, Kashmir (2016)
Kashmir is the world’s largest and the most militarised region. The conflict there has been going on since the 1930s but the contemporary war reached its peak in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Since then the Indian state and Indian paramilitary forces have killed a thousand and around 20,000 kashmiris have been disappeared. This conflict region has not received much international attention and hardly the international society knows about it. Curfews, use of pellet guns , tear gas etc is a routine in the region. Recently, in july 2016 the Freedom of Press was suppressed and local newspapers banned by the sttae. Hence, this phoot story looks into this matter.
