When Apple do things the right way.
A remote story.

Airpods without controls, MacBooks Pro only with USB-C, iPhone without jack and with wide edges, and iPad wasting so much screen. We always find a way to say “Yeah, it´s ok but maybe they could…”.
But when Apple actually do things right and the way we want it, we just ignore it.
I´m talking about the Remote app, of course. The last thing Apple made that makes me say: “This is exactly what I´ve expected”.
Really. Think about it. We, as part of the 1% geek-world, always find something we think could have been done better. But I can´t find that in the Remote app.
It´s fast, easy to connect (no passwords, no IDs…), opens instantanously, has everything you may find in the Siri remote, and even more. Works with old Apple TV, you can connect multiple Apple TVs, great design and looks amazing with my iPhone Jet Black.
I can´t find anything missing in the app.
So, what´s this article all about?
It´s a reminder. A reminder that Apple could do things just the way we want them to be and at the same time being magical and beautiful just the way Apple wants them to be.
Apple TV, from it´s first generation to the last one and the new version of the Remote app (I can´t even think about that frustrating old app without feeling nauseated) has made a long journey. TEN years. Yes, it´s not just iPhone´s tenth anniversary.
And, I don´t know about you, but I´ve been wishing for an app like the one we have now for over six years, since my first Apple TV. We all thought about our iPhone being the controller for everything, Apple TV included. But, the old version was there, abandoned, for almost nine years until now.
The moral of a fable it´s simple: Be patient. In Steve Jobs´ words: “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards”.
P.S.: This article was meant to be released a long time ago, but maybe the time has proved me right: We have forgotten about Remote app, because it´s what we want.
P.S.2: English isn´t my first language and maybe I´ve made incredible mistakes so, please, correct me.
