YES..BHUTTO IS STILL ALIVE!

Today the fourth of April is nothing like the many I have experienced for 25 years. Its today that i realize the meaning behind the famous quote “Ignorance is blessing” because till today I didn't feel a pressure of responsibility. its nothing less than a tragedy that it took me so many years to realize and associate myself with the “Maker of Pakistan”. Here i am not referring to the father of the nation, our dear Quaid, rather i am focusing on the person who has provided the mold in which our country is shaped today. Pakistan is a nuclear power, the very reason it stands with pride among the nations of the world. All this and much more because of that one person whose 37th death anniversary we are mourning today…Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto!

As i mentioned earlier, it is nothing less than a tragedy for me and many other youngsters of my country who doesn't realize and value the spirit and vision of their leaders. I am not talking about the Nawaz family nor even the ex cricket captain Imran, I am talking about such individuals who have been a mark of excellence. I used to be sad thinking I could never see Quaid, but today, I am even sadder. Quaids death was a natural one, what we can term as expected, but this one, of the “maker of Pakistan” came unexpected. But then as we know it, this is how heroes are born and great stories are written.

I couldn't have the privilege to experience the great aura of ZAB, to hear his inspirational speeches in his own voice or be there to support his vision and determination and this may be the greatest regret of my life which obviously wasn't in my control. I am thankful to all the writers, ZABs friends, family, colleagues and his devoted followers who have managed to keep him alive till now so that people like me, generations after generations, can know and understand the worth of such a national hero. I am not regarding him a hero on the basis of his martyrdom or his contributions only, i am regarding him a hero on the basis of the man and a politician he was. Politics to me is not about the poor nor even about the rich only as we see today, rather politics is an art about balancing both classes that exist in every society of the world and this man was that artist. He was born with a vision and characteristics that are the very definition of a leader. GOD has surely been super kind to this man because not everyone is born and made this way. One needs to have a certain type of charisma for being able to sit with the workers on road and on the same time be able to sit with the world leaders, communicating to both with the same inspiration. He was a man capable of winning hearts of the masses and also threatening the ones who were against him or the country. He was a man one in a billion, literally!

Nature has a way of showing justice. In the case of ZAB we all saw what, as humans, we were capable to see. But then the air crash of the Pharoah of ZABs time bears witness to the natures way of telling the right and wrong as a result of which one lives in the heart of millions and the other is just another Niazi in Pakistan history. ZABs party is still alive to great astonishment because the spirit of the party has just vanished. May be its because it was born with a soul and a purpose which was honest in nature because otherwise I do not see even a glimpse of ZAB or even Benazir in the newest chairman of PPP. Its sad, very sad that a heir to such legends is just another boy from town. Its not his fault actually, he is just not born with it.

I am honored to be able to realize the actual heroes of our dear country, the people who have given their all for the sake of its people and glory. I hope and pray with all my heart that every individual of our country is able to not only remember what great people our history had, but also carry out their visions and efforts in a much much greater way. No nation can ever be successful if they don’t value their heroes, the very reason we are still lost in our perspectives. If GOD has kept Bhutto alive in the hearts of so many, then there must be a reason behind it. If today a youngster like me, who has nothing to do with politics, is remembering him then there must be a reason behind it. Its time we look for those reasons and the demands it has from us as Pakistanis. We have a responsibility and I have never felt it more as today.

No matter how cliched it sounds, but its a fact…BHUTTO IS STILL ALIVE! and wherever he is, I know that he is in the best of hands. Thank you ZAB for being you, thank you for giving us something to be so proud of and thank you for giving us the Pakistan of today. I would have celebrated your martyrdom if things were the way you had visioned, so at least your sacrifice was worth it but unfortunately we are in a worse condition than ever that is why I mourn on this day when Pakistan lost its true leader, the second time after Quaid.
