No one cares about your research

I love this. Nothing is more frustrating to a researcher than spending hours and hours collecting data and forming a thesis, only to realize that nobody really cares. (I’ve been in this position so many times!)

Your thoughts around socializing research make me think of the “built in public” concept: involve people in the process, and they’ll feel more ownership over the outcome.

I’ve found that tying findings to something your audience personally cares about is the best way to get them to listen. It may mean tailoring your insights to different audiences, but that’s part of the socialization.
