2.It has a lot of poles- an average house rests upon an average of 5 to 10 support poles. The entire city lays upon 11 million support poles.

3.Multicultural- it is home to the highest number of nationalities out of any city in the world.

4.Land of many languages- 85% of Amsterdam residents can speak more than two languages, usually, Dutch, English and could be German also.

5.Bikes everywhere- it is the most bicycle friendly city in the world. Over 60% of trips are made by bicycle in the inner city.

6.It is LGBT friendly- it was the first capital in the world to allow gay marriage.

7.Safety first city- it is amongst the top 25 safest cities in the world. It has a lower crime rate as compared to all other European cities.

8.Coffee love- second largest consumers of coffee in the world, consuming around 3.2 cups of coffee per person, per day.

9.Cat boats- Poezenboot is a houseboat full of stray cats and is run by volunteers.

10.Weird indie cinemas- home to the worlds smallest movie cinema- seats one person. CINEMA41 is a pop-up movie theater located in a housing complex.
