What will happen if everyone is truthful at work?
I think, we immediately cut down a lot of fluff around an organization and truly focus on things that matters!
People extrapolate the hours spent on a task to make it look very complex to get recognition, allow them to be less productive but still be the rock star of the team.
People thump their chest for anything and everything they do. That may sometime bring them visibility and a higher chance in the performance cycle!
People don’t call a bad project a “bad project” and keep on chugging along to continue the business as usual or just to please the boss.
Don’t challenge the status quo ever!
Just follow the same approach again and again for a product development with minor tweaks. You get more or less the same wine in a new bottle with a new name.
Create new roles to give work to extra people in the organization instead of really looking hard at the need of that role and the impact it will bring to bear.
What happens when you STOP doing all of the above!
I bet many companies can be downsized by half and become profitable overnight.
And they start focusing on the real things that will truly add to the growth of the company!
Definitely will kick start innovation
Better productivity!
Less pressure on employees to show how indispensable they are!
And I feel, it has a potential to improve the well being of the employees and only the employees who are truly aligned to the goals of the company will continue in the company “to innovate and tell truth when it matters, where it matters!”
Last point, does all this mean no competitiveness in an organization. Not at all, in-fact it should raise it for individuals and the organization they work for.
