Why can’t I center things?

(and other questions about the new Medium editor)

Hi Medium! I have a few questions about the new editor.

I noticed you can’t center things anymore. I used to do that with my headings, and I really like the way it looks. Why’d you take that feature out?

Also, when you embed an image, there are a lot less options for how to display it. I liked those options. What was wrong with them?

One other thing, I noticed there are only two levels of heading now, but there used to be three. That was useful — why is it gone?

Edit: After publishing this post, I noticed one more thing: it looks like you strip away whitespace after and before headings? What if I want a little more breathing room around things?

I love writing on Medium, and I don’t plan on stopping now, but I’m just curious why you took away stuff I liked to use.

Thanks,
Nathan

PS — I love the new typography and logo!

Update!

Looks like Marcin Wichary wrote a post that explains a lot of this! Thank you to Justin Fowler for pointing it out.

The basic rationale for a lot of these changes is to create a more consistent mobile reading experience, and a more consistent view of content in the feed. Makes sense to me.
