Interesting idea for sure. Ditto to Jason’s points 1, 3, and 4 — especially on how ANJ case law will work.
On Jason’s point 2 though, I’m not sure it would be a good idea to let a judge keep the bond either. This could lead to really perverse incentives: a systematic bias against the plaintiff (because ruling for the D gets you no bond), or in favor of ruling on cases quickly, and probably others. But I do agree that volunteers may not be the best option. I don’t have a better answer, unfortunately. Maybe instead, you donate some of the treasury coins to pay judges.
Also worth thinking about conflicts of interest. What do you do if one of the Supreme Court judges is ruling on a disputed involving his buddy? Or himself (since the judges are chosen automatically)?
