I think that you’re right, SF Ali about religion and culture being two different things. There are non-practicing Jews and Catholics who still feel like they are part of Jewish or Catholic culture. I once worked with a woman who was an atheist who went to Jewish Temple every Saturday. She explained that she liked the culture and some of the values, even if she did not believe in God. Certainly the same thing can be true for people from a Muslim background.
There is a long history of Jewish comics who include jokes about Jewish culture and family life in their routines. Perhaps the world would be a happier place if we could also laugh at Muslim culture (because semitic Mothers are the same for both Jews and Muslims).
