The graphic shows five days, with an email being sent every day. This is proposed as a winning method for growing sales.
There’s another name for this: SPAM. The idea that spamming people is going to cause sales to start increasing exponentially is ridiculous (unless you’re going to SPAM millions of people).
Email is something that should be used very sparingly or the sender will end up being blocked.
People hate being spammed. Spammers are considered the bottom dwellers of the Internet (anyone remember the ur-spammer, Spamford Wallace?) A sure way to ruin your reputation is to get labeled as a spammer.
The only reason we don’t hate spammers as much as we used to is that email spam filters are so good that we don’t see much spam anymore.
If you spam lots of people, services like Amazon’s Simple Email System (SES) or Mailgun will cancel your email privileges.
Being obnoxious is not a way to sell anything. Here’s a better idea: make something that people want. Yeah, it’s really hard. But no one said that starting a company was easy.
Like Facebook, nderground uses email notifications to let people know when a member of their group has posted to their nderground board or commented on a post. When we added this feature, we were very concerned about the issue of unwanted email. When we added email notifications, we also provided a way for users to opt out of this feature. Every email includes a note at the end letting people know how that can turn off email notifications.
