You Want Republicans to Put Country Before Party…But Will You?

The issue with Trump as president has gone far beyond party and policy.

I read today in the New York Times that the intelligence community has found repeated contacts before the election between people who worked on Trump’s campaign and “senior members” of Russian intelligence.

The article, and similar articles, notes that the intelligence community has found no evidence that members of the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians in Hacking the Clinton and Democratic emails accounts.

Collusion may be unproven so far. However, Russia is not just any country, but a country with a long history of conflict with the United States. In what universe is it acceptable for members of a Presidential candidate's staff to be in repeated contact with an adversary of the United States?

Against the background of repeated contacts with Russian intelligence Trump has repeatedly praised the strong man who rules Russia, an adversary of the United States.

In what universe is this acceptable?

Even if no evidence is uncovered that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians, the contacts between the Russians and the Trump campaign should disqualify Trump as president.

What kind of reality are we living in where there is even a possibility, although as yet unproven, that the Trump campaign colluded with Russian intelligence to hack the Clinton email accounts? The very fact that such a suspicion exists should disqualify Trump as President.

What other President in the history of the United States has even had a whiff of suspicion that they colluded with an adversary of the United States?

Given this, any talk about party or policy is absurd.

Republicans and Democrats may not agree on policy, but at this point it doesn’t matter. We have a President who is stained by his own defence of the murderous Russian President Putin and by the contacts between his campaign and Russia.

So yeah, I’ll back any Republican that truly opposes Trump. Right now, only the Republicans can impeach Trump. Impeachment is the only answer for a President who is as compromised as Trump.

I can’t believe that this is happening and that I wrote a post like this one. What is this, the fucking Twilight Zone?
