My Africa Code Week Experience as a Facilitator.

Africa Code Week was supported by Google and hosted by TeenHack which is an initiative of Rad5 Tech Hub in Abia State. It lasted for two weeks, from October 21st to October 31st 2019.
It was a wonderful experience for me because, it gave me the opportunity to be part of something big. Something that is changing and making impact in the lives of millions and still counting.
I was assigned to Team A to teach two schools - Friedel Kropf’s Educational Centre and Sacred Heart College.

At first, I wasn’t happy that I was going to Sacred Heart College(SAHARCO) but while teaching them i could see the passion and the hunger to learn. After the program the students said they would like to start a programming club in their school. On hearing that i was so happy and fulfilled. I felt like, OMG!!!, my little effort has spark up something.
We exposed these passionate youngsters to technologies including Scratch Programming and Virtual Reality.

Nnah Fredo, a student of Friedel Kropf’s Educational Centre said she was going to create an app using scratch that teaches members of the Catholic Church the right way to say their prayer and behave while praying.
To be sincere, these youngsters aren’t just smart but they are a source of inspiration and passion for me. Their passion alone was all that was driving me.
If we invest in people, most especially young people, then shall poverty be alleviated from our society.
I hope to see scratch programming in the school syllabus in Nigeria.
I am also planning to join the students of Sacred Heart College start the Students Developer Club/Community in their school and other schools.
