Thank you for such an important and educational post. I am in a learning process about all those in our society being smocked, marginalized and murdered for being who they are. I am fortunate to exist in a pretty nice bubble being a white educated female. Like all women I’ve been exposed to blatant sexism, sexually menaced and touched inappropriately but never feared for my life because I’m a woman…not yet.

My question to society is; why do you care so much about someone’s sexuality, gender at birth as opposed to now,color of their skin, god they worship, if it does not interfere with your life? Is it just about conforming to control? I’m sincerely asking. Why don’t I care AT ALL what gender you want to be, who you are attracted to, what color your skin is, what relives doctrine you follow and others care SO MUCH, too the point of committing violence. Why can I accept people as they are an other’s can’t.

I’m not special. I was raised by a father who is a blatant bigot in a small town with a lot of small minds. All my father’s his talk about how blacks (he used the N word) and fags and women were ruining the world just bounced off me as ridiculous even though I did not know a single black person personally until high school, never knew it if I knew anyone who was gay or transgender until I was in college. What’s different about my brain?

Maybe I never had designs on being in control,of anyone or anything. Maybe I am too preoccupied with other meaningless crap. Maybe I’ve always been too reliant on my instincts about people. This well-dressed white dude with his easy smile is giving me the creeps. What black kids causing trouble? You mean those teenagers over there laughing and punching each others in the arm-how is that “trouble?” Am I just naive?

If as an adult we can go to a fertility clinic and choose the gender of our children it’s somehow unacceptable for someone to make. that choice later in life for themselves?
