Medium Product Feedback
Hi Medium Engineering Team,
Medium is a truly fantastic tool that I’ve just recently started to use. I’m a Google Docs fan, and one value that Medium shares with Google Docs is collaboration. However, Medium’s “Share” feature is a bit annoying to use. Is there any plan to make it better? As far as I’m concerned, there are 3 user stories I would be interested in:
- As a writer, in order to collaborate, I want to clearly share my story.
- As a writer, in order to manage my collaborators, I want to clearly understand which person has been invited to collaborate.
- As a collaborator, in order to manage my contributions, I want to clearly understand what I’ve been recently working on.
The first story is kind of working now, but I’d love it to be improved so I don’t have to share a pesky link. It would be great if I could select Medium users for example.
The second story does not exist. Because I need to share a link, I need to hack a way to remember who I’ve shared that link with. Very annoying.
The third story does not exist either. In my profile, under the “Recommended by…” section, I’d love to have a “Co-Written by…” section where I can see all the latest stories.
I have thousands of documents in my Google Docs. I’m writing more and more on Medium, and I’ve noticed that I’ve been slowly transitioning to Medium. You guys will probably not replace Google Docs, but my feeling is that you could get a lot of their users(in the same way Google Docs stole a lot of MS-Word users at the time).
