Hi, my name is Justin Nebo.

My most recent challenging learning experience is working on the aesthetics of my web application UI so as to make it appealing to users. As a developer, I have to think about the users of my application. How the application appeal to them and the ease at which they access the functionalities of the application.

The first impression, they say, matters a lot and this applies to creating software applications too. I have been indifferent with looks, my interest has been how to implement an idea or a functionality with little or no interest in the aesthetics of how I present such idea to the world. This has affected my journey towards becoming a software developer. I have come to understand that its not just about me but about the people out there who will use the application. How I get the users attached to the product and appeal to their aesthetics matters a lot too.

This doesn’t look so easy to overcome because it has to do with individual differences. It was another challenge thinking of how best to solve this challenge within timeline. I had to take a step and the first was going out to talk with some friends to get an idea of how they perceive beauty with respect to web applications they have used and life generally. After their wonderful feedback, I headed straight to google for a more worldwide view on what it takes to create products that appeal aesthetically to users and how to achieve that. I found out that the look and feel of a web application is very essential if not the most important. Awesome functionalities matters but not any less compared to how you present it to the world. Also, a good design helps to attract new users.

I am presently working on improving my design skills with the help of some wonderful resources online and feedback from individuals. I want to be able to produce what the will appeal to the world, it doesn’t look like an easy feat but I know can. You can too!
