Microsoft founder Bill Gates expressed confidence that the next-generation nuclear power project in the United States will be realised regardless of who comes to power in the country. Gates told CBS that in the future the states will be able to compete with China in this sphere.

Gates and his energy company TerraPower are leading a major project, the construction of which began last week in the state of Wyoming. It is a nuclear power plant that will use sodium cooling instead of water cooling. The authors of the project claim that this simplifies the process while making it safer and cheaper.

The nuclear power plant is expected to start producing electricity by 2030. As Gates emphasised, nuclear power has many advantages, including environmental friendliness, which is why it enjoys bipartisan support in the US. According to him, Democrats see its value as a source of clean energy, while Republicans look at it from the point of view of energy sovereignty.
