I’m already behind.

But isn’t that how it goes?

You don’t really start anything until you start.

Talk is cheap because it’s cheap to talk.

There’s no commitment or obligation to keep promises you speak.

(rant on current political affairs and freedom of press)

It is true though. That’s why we accomplish more when we write things down. From to-do lists to goals. There’s just something about taking the time to commit in writing, the extra effort.

“Actions speak louder than words.”

Gosh, the cheesey cliches just keep going. Motivational poster-style.

My current favorite:

“You either accomplish the goal or stop writing it down.”

I had to think about that one a few times. It’s from With Winning In Mind. I’m now experimenting with writing my top goal down three times each day. I haven’t stopped yet…

Added 1/13/17: And this just in by the brilliant Seth Godin:

Showing vs. telling

All the promises, explanations and asides in the world pale in comparison with what you do.

Too often, we forget that jargon and narrative exist to help shape our actions, not to replace them.

Words keep getting cheaper, which makes action more valuable than ever.

Anyway.

The point of this project is to produce 52 Musings on Life This Far, in 52 weeks (or a year). I’m 25 this year, so the 25/52 parrallel really has my branding brain leaping with joy.

The goal is to get in a more consistent writing habit and create content for myself. I also think I have things to share with the world; people who have lived through 25 can benefit from seeing what it’s like now (we’re not all Millie Millennials), and people who haven’t hit 25 can find out it’s survivable (dramatic).

This is a soft goal this year, not one I’m writing down three times a day. Nonetheless, one I think can add value to my year. I hope you find a musing interesting, valuable. I hope my opinion casts a different light on what it means to be in the heart of an emerging generation — that’s not what keeps getting publicized about “us.”

We’re not all poor vegabonds staying up late with gelato and Netflix.

(I’m going to bed at 9:30pm tonight and popped a few $$ into my 401K, thank you very much #old).

So the moral of the story:

  1. Follow my journey with #52Musings.
  2. Write down your top goal three times a day.
  3. Go to bed early.

I’ll see you next week.
