How to setup Emergency Medical ID on iOS 9

Generally people having the latest iOS devices that have iOS 9 will be aware of the Health App and its importance. But not everyone has created their Medical ID and some of you might not know about it too. So for those who don’t know about the Medical ID, it contains information about your health which can be used in case you need any medical assistance.

The main advantage of setting up an emergency Medical ID is that anyone can access it right from the lock screen. In the time of medical emergency, anyone can easily get the idea of your medical needs and can easily help you according to your health issues. So it’s time to set up your emergency Medical ID. The process will only take a few minutes and is very simple. So follow the steps below.

Step 1: Launch the Health app from the home screen of your iPad or iPhone.

Step 2: Now tap on the “Medical ID” at the bottom-right corner. Then tap on “Create Medical ID” to begin the addition of your medical details.

Step 3: Now you have to enter all your health issues including allergies, health conditions, emergency contact details or any other special notes. These details will be useful in the case of emergency and anyone around you can easily access these details from your lock screen.

Step 4: When you have entered all your medical details, turn on the “Show When Locked” feature. This feature is optional but highly recommended. If you enable this feature, anyone around you can see your medical history from your locked screen and can easily help you in the case of emergency.

These were the simple steps which you have to follow to set up your Medical ID. You can now exit your Health app and confirm whether it’s working or not by swiping up to the passcode screen and then tapping on Emergency followed by tapping on Medical ID. This feature is optional, but we strongly recommend setting up this feature especially if you have any serious injuries or health issues.
