When I was 15 and participating in an orderly demonstration against war (on Schiller St E of Wells St in Chicago), a large group of police charged us and beat everybody, girls included. The police, many, many of them were swinging their billy clubs as hard as they could on anybody within reach.
I was in a position where I could see this coming, and I was able to run down a gangway (division between buildings), jump a wall (I was physically very capable), and I got away.
Numerous people in other parts of the large demonstration made public the fact that the police were beating up people. The event on Schiller never got any attention as far as I know.
Now, the police want the public to believe they are some kind of benevolent do-gooders. Yeah, sure.
