Seltive: Empowering African Creators to Sell Digital Products Online

As a graphics designer in university, I faced challenges trying to sell my designs online. The available platforms either had high fees, were complicated to set up, or lacked crucial features such as the ability to run ads and track conversions. Recognizing the need for a platform that would provide African creators with the tools they need to sell digital products online, I founded Seltive. However, it was just an idea until I received financial and mentorship support from Open Skies Fellowship, which helped me bring Seltive to life.

Digital products are intangible assets or media that can be sold and distributed repeatedly online, such as e-books, music, videos, courses, software, and many more.

Types of Digital Products

Using Seltive, digital creators can set up micro-stores to showcase their products, manage orders and customer information, create promotions, and integrate digital marketing tools like Google Ads to help grow their businesses. Our platform offers multiple payment options, prioritizing mobile money integration and other payment options like cards and banks. The platform also provides reporting and analytics features, including sales reports, traffic reports, and product performance reports, to help sellers make better business decisions.

To market our platform, we’re implementing a range of strategies that focus on building brand awareness and driving sales. Here are a few tactics we’re planning on using:

  1. Social media marketing: Social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are great places to showcase our products and build a following. We’re using targeted ads to reach our ideal customers and engage with our followers through regular posts and stories.
  2. Email marketing: Building an email list can help us communicate with our customers and promote our products through newsletters and special promotions. We’re offering a discount code or freebie in exchange for signing up for our mailing list.
  3. Content marketing: Creating valuable content such as blog posts, videos, or tutorials can help establish us as an authority in our niche and drive traffic to our website. We’re then promoting our products within our content.
  4. Affiliate marketing: Setting up an affiliate program can incentivize others to promote our products on their websites or social media platforms in exchange for a commission on sales.

To differentiate ourselves from our competitors, we’re offering unique features like personalized product recommendations and a loyalty program for repeat customers. We’re also partnering with mobile money service providers, banks, and digital payments vendors to integrate their services into our platform so that users can list their products and start selling.

In summary, Seltive is an e-commerce platform that provides African digital creators with the tools they need to sell a variety of digital products online. We’re implementing a range of marketing strategies to build our brand and drive sales, and we’re offering unique features to differentiate ourselves from our competitors.
