Let the travels begin! First stop, Philly. We stayed in a cozy Airbnb in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood. The location was very walkable, close to so many great bars and restaurants, and the best spot for checking out all the quaint townhouses and amazing painted murals.
Did you know there are over 2,000 outdoor murals in the city and have earned the reputation of Mural Capital of the U.S?
I stopped by the adorable Occasionette shop in East Passyunk. They had a strong Philly pride corner (including our Philadelphia map) featuring all kinds of city products, an amazing greeting card collection, and lots of small gift items to pick from. The shop is also included in the On the Grid Philadelphia Etsy Guide.

Being a Tourist
Made it to a Sunday afternoon Phillies game vs. the Nationals. It was perfect Spring weather and they won 4 to 3! It was opening weekend so, the stadium was packed, all the fans were excited and the views of the city were breathtaking.
Did you know that in 1894, Phillies outfielder Sam Thompson knocked in 61 runs in a single month? It’s a major league baseball record that’s never been broken.
So many delicious options from my visit, I narrowed it down to my top picks for coffee, brunch, and lunch.
- Coffee: La Colombe (left) is a staple for any Philly visit. Or, as On the Grid Rittenhouse Guide says “It is the queen bee of Philadelphia coffee.”
- Brunch: Honey’s Sit N Eat (middle) is the place to be. The wait is usually long but, it’s worth it for the amazing food.
Honey’s Sit N Eat Bonus: they source a lot of their ingredients from nearby Lancaster County. — On the Grid Northern Liberties Guide
- Lunch: Dizengoff (right) has a few locations and the hummus is so good. Everyday is a different selection of toppings and it seems like you really can’t go wrong. To add some local flare, pair it will a Victory Prima Pils!
