Neighbourhood Nosh - Food Campaign

Welcome to #NeighbourhoodNosh!
Hi I’m Meg! Wife, Mother, blogger, Social Media Community Manager (in training) and food lover!
Over the next 12 weeks I am going to be a running a campaign in our local area to try and raise awareness about everything food!
As a mum to my 1 year old son I know all too well how easy it is to go for simple, quick and cheap meals instead of local and homemade. Its time to change the way we think about food and I hope you will join me in my journey to living a healthier and more fulfilling food lifestyle.
During the #NeighbourhoodNosh Campaign I am going to be focussing on 4 key areas.
Buying local food — Buying and eating local food is a great way to ensure that more money stays within our community and allows us to support our local farmers. Its fresh and is usually sold within 24 hours of being picked meaning that you get all of the goodness from the product. Its also a great way of reducing our carbon footprint as its not travelling long distances to reach its buyers….which means you don’t have to feel as guilty about taking that long haul holiday flight ;-)
Cooking Seasonal Food — I really want to highlight that cooking seasonal food with local produce can actually be very quick, very easy and lots of fun! I will be posting regular seasonal recipes as well as making these at home for me and my family.
Learning where our food comes from — I want to find our where our local produce comes from and so I will be on a mission to find (and talk to) as many local producers as possible during my neighbourhood nosh journey. I also want to find out where our fast food and junk food comes from. I’m certainly not a health freak and I will often grab something easy for convenience but now its time to find out where its from and whats in it…yikes!
Using food to bring our community together — I have only scratched the surface of the different ways in which using food can bring our community together but I’m already so surprised that there is allot going on! I would like to raise awareness in this area and hopefully get more of us involved with local projects. If my campaign goes well I will even try to start up my own food event or project in our local area.
So what do I need from you? Not an awful lot! I know how hectic life can be but I would ask that you follow me on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Read and enjoy the information I am putting on there (it wont be boring I promise) and like and share my content so that we can get this message as far as possible. If you are interested in and agree with what I am posting I would like to ask you to pledge that you will try to do one or more of the following:
I pledge to buy more locally produced food
I pledge to cook more seasonal foods
I pledge my family will go junk food free for a week
I pledge to share food with others this week
You can show me that you are making this pledge by visiting any of my sites and posting your pledge on the timeline along with #NeighbourhoodNosh.
Thank you for your time and lets get the #NeighbourhoodNosh message out there!
