The Dog Photographer

A life dedicated to photographing our furry friends.

Music thumped in my ears, dulling the slap of my feet on the pavement as I pounded along, mind filled with plans for the day. Photos sat waiting to be edited, blog posts begging to be written and emails beckoned a response.

Rounding the next corner, I spotted a little squishy face trotting along the path towards me and I squealed with delight inside. A Frenchie! It took all of my willpower to forge ahead with my morning run and not stop, crouch down and introduce myself.

This is the story of my life. Yes, I truly am one of those crazy dog ladies who left to her own devices, will quite happily interrupt her day by saying hello to every potential furry friend she comes across.

I’ve been talking to the animals since I was a little tyke and have always been happiest when I have been surrounded by family pets, though these days it’s just me and my pride and joy — a blue Great Dane called Luna. Her fawn sister, Kaya, went to the big dog park in the sky in 2009, taken way too soon by cancer at just two years old. You can read Kaya’s story here.

I’m most inspired by the amazing bond I’ve had with my canine friends and I use my photographic expertise and eye for design to create beautiful photographic portraits of dogs that truly tell their story.

To give back to the community, I regularly volunteer my time at animal shelters and with rescue organisations. I get the most satisfaction out of photographing adoptable dogs and promoting them through social media, sharing their professional portrait makeovers with potential adopters.

When not taking my water baby Luna to the beach or a local creek, I love curling up with a good historical fantasy novel and a glass of red on the back deck, enjoying the peace and quiet of my bushland home. Getting physical outdoors with horse riding, dirt biking and bushwalking keeps me fit and makes life interesting and challenging.

A self-confessed techno geek, I also thrive on finding time to disconnect from technology and spend time with my amazing partner, friends and family as often as possible.

As you’ll quickly discover, I have a genuine interest in you and your pet. I love hearing funny stories about your experiences with your best mate — how you met — whether it was love at first sight — stories about those first months of puppy behaviour — all about your dog’s best friends — anything you want to tell me to give me a deeper insight into what makes them tick!

I’m looking forward to meeting you and your best friend soon.
