Mike, I had great success with Ferriss’ “slow-carb” diet. Any diet that eliminates refined flour and sugar is going to deliver tremendous health benefits, in addition to weight loss. The slow-carb diet is especially healthy and super nutritious, too.

Recently, I’ve been pursuing a ketogenic diet, combined with intermittent fasting, and I’ve found that my energy levels are much more consistent and sustained throughout the day, even compared to the slow-carb diet. I’m also intrigued by the health benefits of intermittent fasting and ketosis, beyond just weight loss.

The bottom line is this: everyone’s metabolism is different, and your metabolism will change as part of the natural process of aging. As a result, it’s important to experiment and try to find a way of eating that works for your unique metabolism.

It’s shocking how inaccurate the “conventional wisdom” on nutrition and diet is, how it’s even harmful to many people. After decades of hearing how we should eat a low fat diet to lose weight and improve our health, we see in fact that obesity and diseases like diabetes are increasing, despite the fact that most Americans shun fat in their diets.

I commend you for your efforts in listening to your body, instead of the “experts,” and discovering a way to eat that works for you. Keep up the great work!
