The White Arab is the best horse in Red Dead 2 you don’t have to buy. We explain where you find him and which horses are worth it.

At the beginning of Red Dead Redemption 2, you automatically get a horse — after all, as a cowboy, you can’t travel without a mount. However, our first faithful Ross is not necessarily the best in the game.

Our guide will help you get to the best horse in the game as early as possible — the white Arab. In addition, we explain which other horse breeds are worthwhile and where their locations are.

How to find the white Arab

You must first unlock the stables in Chapter 2. This works via the quest »Exit, Pursued By A Bruised Ego”. You and Hosea chase after a legendary bear. Speaking of which — we have also made a guide for the legendary animals.

After that, you can get the white Arab. The only drawback compared to the expensive buying horses: you have to track it down, catch it and tame it. You will find the white Arab northwest of Lake Isabella in Grizzlies West. The best way to get to the spot is to choose The Quick Journey to Strawberry and ride north. Saves before you enter the area to reload in case of doubt.

The white Arab roams there alone in the snow-covered environment. Over your eagle eye, you discover it a little easier due to its heat signature. Because the horse is even more frightening than other animals, you have to approach it especially carefully. Examines the horse as soon as the option is available. Then you see a bar indicating how alarmed the animal is.

How to tame the white Arab

Keep approaching it as you constantly press the “calm” button. As soon as it is possible, select “Stroke” and then climb on the back of the Arab when the function is displayed to you. If you sit on him, the horse is trying to throw you away. Perform the appropriate counter-movements with the left controller stick or mouse and keyboard to bring the horse under your control. As long as you are not thrown off, the horse will give up at some point and the white Arab will be tamed.

But it doesn’t belong to you yet. To do this, you’ll have to take the saddle off your previous main horse and strap it on to the back of your new noble horse. Then the white Arab is officially your main horse. By the way, you can leave the other mounts in the stable and also select there.
