Open office hours for Nordic startups on PR and Media
I hate pitch emails, really, I despise them.
Recently I’ve realised though that it’s not the concept I don’t like, it’s the content.
The fact is, 99% of the pitches I receive are truly terrible.
Yesterday, I held a workshop for 500 Nordics’ 1st batch covering:
- The do’s and don’ts of pitching journalists
- How to construct a cold email that gets a response
- How to construct a strong email pitch to journalists

The enthusiasm and willingness of the founders to learn how to improve at these things really struck me and made me realise that the reason why 99% of startup’s email pitches are terrible, is simply because 99% of founders have not had the right help with this, or access to a workshop that being part of an accelerator like 500 provides.
So instead of continuing to lament startups’ ability to send good pitch emails, as I’ve done in the past, I’m going to help them instead, just like I did yesterday.
Starting from next week, I’m setting up some open office hours for Nordic startups, initially starting with 4x 15 minute slots a week over Skype, and perhaps increasing to two hours a week if the demand is there.
To be clear, this is not an opportunity to pitch me, I very rarely write about individual companies, nor is it for you to ask me to intro you to someone else in the media. This is an opportunity for me to share what I’ve learnt from the other side of the table, and to hopefully provide you with the tools you need to successfully pitch journalists.
These sessions will work best if you have something very tangible you want to talk about (for example: we’ve just raised a seed round, what’s the best way to communicate this) so we can constructively work through a concrete example in the 15 minutes.
While I can’t guarantee that with my assistance you will get the media coverage you desire, I can certainly help with increasing your chances of being covered.
Let’s give this a go, You can book a slot here.
