Patiently Curating- January 1st

This year I’ve decided to keep a daily record of all of the podcasts I listen to, all of the books I read, all of the TV series (and films) I watch, some of the music I listen to and a few of the articles I read.

Podcasts

After binge-listening the first seven episodes of The Message on New Years Eve, I treated myself to the finale today. Although the ending was a little obvious, it still left me satisfied, and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. This is the first time I’ve listened to a fictional podcast, now I’m looking forward to listening to more.

I’d highly recommend The Message to anyone who is a Sci-fi fan and is curious about podcasts, or anyone who is a podcast fan and curious about Sci-fi. (For the record, I am the latter)

Footnote: I’m now going to check out Limetown and The Black Tapes Podcast after both shows were mentioned several times in the reviews of The Message from others.

Footnote II: I ended up listening to the first episode of Limetown after writing the first draft of this, thought it was fantastic, and already found the quality of the acting and storytelling better than The Message.

Book(s)

Continued reading The Martian on my kindle, halfway through, have to admit, I’m not as enamoured with it as everyone else seems to be, although I am drawn in enough to be curious as to how it ends, so I am sticking with it.

Article(s)

Jay Z’s acquisition of Tidal was one of the oddest stories in European tech last year, James Cook of Business Insider wrote a very interesting read recapping the whole thing, and looked at what’s happened subsequently: The Story of Tidal: How a European startup no one had ever heard of got bought by Jay Z.
