Yep, this dawned on me recently too. Good service design is being compromised because system A cant talk to system B. I shudder to think how much time I’ve devoted to merely trying to wrestle systems together for sub-optimal gains.
It’s why I’d like to see a more open way of developing digital services which could raise the bar collectively for the public sector. I come from a Social Housing background, but I bet there’s huge overlap in the stuff we’re trying to achieve digitally speaking for tenants/citizens. Chuck it all on GitHub or Bitbucket, let’s work it out together! :)
