Passwords are essential to protect our privacy and from external threats, but these days it seems like we have a lot of passwords to remember, and they never seem to get any easier to memorize! If you own an HP printer, you will be happy to know that you can change your HP printer default password yourself without having to call your IT guy or wait in line at the local print shop.

This guide will show you how to change your HP printer password using 5 easy steps! Here’s how!

1) Register your product

The first step is to register your product with HP. This can be done online or by phone. Once you have registered, you will be able to create an account. You can access the printer’s control panel and change the password.

  • First, select User Setup from the menu bar.
  • Then select Enter New User Name from the next page.
  • Enter a new username for yourself and click Save. Next, enter a new password for yourself twice in two different boxes and click Save.
  • And finally, click on Done to finish setting up your account.

2) Reset your device

If you’ve forgotten your password or want to reset it for security purposes, you can do so by resetting your device. This will restore your printer to its factory settings, and you’ll be able to create a new password.

Here’s how to do it Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer. Unplug any cables connected to the printer’s rear, such as a USB cable or Ethernet cable. Wait at least 10 seconds. Plug in the power cord, and wait until the power light turns on.

3) Enter the new password

  1. Start by opening up the control panel on your computer.
  2. Then, select Devices and Printers.
  3. Find your HP printer in the list of devices and right-click on it.
  4. Choose Printer Properties from the drop-down menu.
  5. In the Properties window, click on the Security tab.
  6. Enter your new password in the Password field and click OK.

4) Save your new settings

  1. Save your new settings.
  2. Select the ‘Start’ button, then select ‘Control Panel.’
  3. Under ‘View by,’ select ‘Large icons,’ then select ‘Devices and Printers.’
  4. Right-click your HP printer, then select ‘Printer properties.
  5. Select the ‘Security’ tab, then enter a new password in the ‘Password’ and ‘Confirm password fields. Click ‘OK.’
  6. Print an alignment page to verify that you can successfully print to your printer from any device connected. Press the home button on your printer to return to the home screen.

If prompted, enter your current user name and password to continue printing. Congratulations, you have successfully changed your HP printer’s security settings!

5) Enter the new PIN

  1. On your printer’s control panel, press the Setup button.
  2. Select Network from the Setup menu.
  3. Select Wireless Settings from the Network menu.
  4. Select Change PIN from the Wireless Settings menu.
  5. Enter your new PIN, then press the Enter button.
  6. Re-enter your new PIN and press the Enter button again to confirm it.
  7. Press Continue to return to the Wireless Settings menu and select OK when prompted to save settings changes or Cancel if you wish to exit without saving changes.

Press Finish on the printer’s control panel for each subsequent option for HP printer default password, one at a time, until you return to the Home screen.
