Be your own Hero

It’s not someone else’s job to pull you out of the deep dark hole you have created for yourself. Even as a social work major, we don’t learn how to save the worst of others; we are taught how to help people recognize their own strength so, they can build the courage to help themselves.

I think this is where relationships and types of friendships go wrong; we depend way too much on the other individual apart of the connection that, when the relationship goes south, we lose a large portion of ourselves because we have made them apart of how we are. Relationships weren’t meant to bring you joy, to bring you peace, to bring you hope; relationships were made to share your joy, peace, and hope with others but also, to connect through trauma, loss, and heartbreak so you are never alone going through these storms.

So, who should be the hero in your story? You. You have the strengths and the weaknesses that can blend together to create such a perfect heroes journey. Be your own hero, find love within your own being; create happiness with ideas and inspiration that come from your mind. There’s no one that knows your story more than you because you wrote it yourself so, why give the pencil to someone else?

It’s hard to not rely on others for your happiness; especially when you can’t even look in the mirror and say something good about yourself. I’ve been there and I’m sure others have too. But, if you are truly looking for a glimpse of light shining in so much darkness, you will only find it in yourself.

So go; be your own soulmate, your own joy, your own healer, your own hero.

Go kickbutt in life, I’m rooting for you
