Change your School

Fuck school, sorry for my language but honestly fuck school. I understand that education is important and I’m all about gaining knowledge by others. This crappy system is ruining it for the next generation and we as students need to put our foot down.

For someone who gets bullied and harassed by people in my own school, I know what it’s like to feel like a one man show. The school system should be providing care and support to their students and listening to what troubles them. When I got harassed, only one guy got suspended for it out of five. It was only for one and a half days and he still complained. What happened to the other four? Well they were the jocks at my school so they got off the hook for their athleticism and popularity. Today, I found out I had a class with the rudest kid I know and on top of that he was in one my classes last year and totally distracted the learning environment around him. So, trying to change my classes for my educational sake, my counselor told me it was not a “valid reason” for my classes to be switch, that putting my education on the line is not reason enough.

I know I may sound like I’m overreacting but this is a real problem; our school system does not care enough about our mental health. Why do you think bullies still bully after they get caught? Why do you think so many suicides happen by teenagers or even school shootings? Us students do no feel comfortable in our educational environment and no one is doing anything about it.

We need to start speaking up, stand up for yourself. Don’t let people who think they are better than you stop you from gaining the knowledge that comes with going to school. Going to school isn’t suppose to be this miserable, walking the hallways isn’t suppose to be this scary.

Don’t leave highschool or college or wherever you are, don’t leave it how you started. Change, speak up, stand out; be the person everyone is too scared of being. Speak out for the people whose voices are never heard, stand up for the people who are too afraid, change for the sake of the environment for the next group of students. This is a cry for help from a student to you, what are you going to do about it?
