Restaking Glossary

Actively Validated Services (AVSs): Any agent that utilizes Ethereum’s collective security to underpin the new restaking system that offers a dependable trust framework for integrating applications.

Distributed Validator Technology (DVT): A system enabling collective operation of a validator node across multiple participants, improving network security and decentralization.

Restakers: Individuals reallocating their staked cryptocurrency to support additional blockchain functionalities, aiming for further rewards.

Operators: Entities that manage blockchain nodes or validators, essential for maintaining network infrastructure and performance.

Distributors: Organizations or mechanisms that streamline the allocation of blockchain assets and rewards among network participants.

Ethereum: A leading decentralized platform famous for its smart contract capabilities, facilitating the development of decentralized applications (dApps).

Restaking: Repurposing staked ETH or Liquid Staking Tokens to secure additional activities or networks

AVS Developer: Creators and maintainers of Actively Validated Services, leveraging blockchain for secure and reliable app operations.

Liquid Staking: A flexible staking approach where stakeholders receive a receipt token representing their assets staked, keeping them fluid.

Liquid Staking Tokens: A receipt token representing a staked cryptocurrency in a Proof of Stake network

Native Restaking: Direct deposit of the native asset of a network (i.e Ethereum) to support Restaking functions

Slashing Conditions: Punitive measures against validators for misconduct or failure to perform duties, usually by diminishing their stake or collateral.

Stake: Cryptocurrency assets committed as collateral to support network security and operations, often in return for rewards.
