First, thank you for writing this.

This reminds me of a really good book, Influencer: The New Science of Leading Change. I highly recommend it. I don’t think it is enough to change the current startup ecosystem, because the current startup ecosystem is, naturally, a part of the larger social-economic systems. What we need, if we want to solve inequality, is a paradigm shift in the way we organize society. Rather then debugging ourselves individually, we need to reprogram society. We need to create a system that is structurally designed to empower people and prevent inequality. This reminds me of another book, Owning Our Future: The Emerging Ownership Revolution by Marjorie Kelly. We have a system that is inherently extractive in nature, rather than generative. It is designed to extract time and energy from the majority of the population, which translates into more wealth to the wealthy who are doing the extraction. We need a generative system that empowers people, rather than extracting their time and energy. I have done a lot of independent research over the past two decades and I can design such a system, but I’m having trouble developing them because I’m quite poor myself.
