So how about we stop trying to shame other people into changing a normal and natural preference?

…and remember to encourage individuality. As a sleep specialist and psychiatrist I constantly tell people that we will look together for their pattern. We debunk the myth of the ‘early to bed, early to rise… blah blah’ and the nonsense of needing 8hours all in a nice neat block. When writing my book, ‘EMDR therapy for schizophrenia and other psychoses’ for Springer, I used a biphasic sleeping pattern. This gave me the equivalent of an extra day’s writing time per week. I found that this preindustrial pattern of sleep fitted me. The mind in this embodied state is very dynamic and that biphasic sleep fitted me for that time. I’m now back to a single sleep as a night owl. Feel free to contact me if you want to learn more (nemojanus@me.com). Be yourself on a good day. There’s no health without mental health and there’s no mental health without healthy sleep.
