Being a brokeA** is choice!! Choose Right!!

I just listened to a podcast “Three Miles” by Chana Joffe-Watt about 2 girls, Melanie and Raquel. Both raised in poor homes, went to poor schools and lived in “The Bronx”, Known as one of the poorest congressional district the states of NY. So you can imagine how hard life was for them. Then, they had the opportunity to visit a rich private school 3 miles away from them, through a pen-pal program formed by their teachers. This experience left both girls with a different perception about life. Melanie could not digest the fact that some kids lives in such luxury while they wallow in poverty and it totally demoralized her, but Raquel took the experience as a challenge upon herself to strive for a better life. Years later on, they both graduated high school, both selected for the Pose scholarship, but could not make it through the final round. Melanie cut off contacts with everyone and she change city and got a job at the super market while taking part time courses at a community college and lives with so much regrets and Raquel succeeded to get into college, graduated with a degree, landed a good job and she lives a better life..
