Do’s and Don’ts of bridal makeup

Once you have decided on your wedding attire, it is now time to get your wedding makeup on point. Whatever be your budget, your bridal makeup should never be compromised on. Here are some of the expert tips that you should keep in mind regarding the do’s and don’ts while choosing your bridal makeup.

Do’s

1. Skincare

It is important to take care of your skin minimum 3–6 months prior to the wedding to ensure that your skin is ready for the big day. It helps your skin to endure the makeup on your skin.

2. Take your trial 3–5 weeks before your wedding

Keep in mind to take your trial at least 3–5 weeks prior to your wedding, but don’t exceed 5 weeks. If you want to use fake tan for your go for a test run so that your makeup artist can see which color suits you the best. You need to feel your best on your trial day and also your hair and jewelry should be perfect so that you get to know the entire look.

3. Wear a matching t-shirt

While you’re having your make-up test in a store, to see how the makeup looks in broad daylight, wear a t-shirt matching the color of your bridal attire and take pictures without a flashlight.

4. Eyes are important

It is all about choosing the correct right tone to compliment your eye color. Keep the intensity and depth of the color closest to the lash line so that the eyes pop-out and the key feature is the eyes and not the makeup.

5. Highlight the brow bone

Finish your make-up off with a highlighter shade on the brow bone to make the eyes really pop. Go for a light matte shade, and pat onto the outer corner of the brow bone so subtly draw attention to this area of your face.

Dont’s

1. Don’t skip the basics

Focus on the most important elements of your look, such as beautifully natural-looking skin, softly groomed brows, and feathery lashes. If you get these basic factors right the rest of your make-up will fall into place.

2. Skip an SPF

If you are opting for flash photography, it is advised to skip wearing an SPF as the flash will reflect on the skin. Be sure to test at your trial by taking a photo with your flash on.

3. Don’t just apply makeup on the face

Not just the face but your neck and shoulders also need makeup to make sure that your face does not have a different texture than your body. Everything should look uniform to create the most natural look possible. An easy way to blend uneven skin tones together is to use a light fake tan.

4. Don’t be scared to go a bit brighter

Choose a lipstick that is a shade or two brighter than what you normally wear, because neutral, brown, and pale lip colors would look washed out in photographs. Wear a neutral base with a base of pink or rose color topping it. Pinks, roses, and plums are great and classic choices.

5. Stay mid-way

It is always advisable to go neither too glossy nor too matte. Avoid lipsticks at either end of the textured scale, too glossy or too matte lipsticks may leave your lips dry and cakey by the time you kiss your groom. The best lipstick would be a moisturizing, satin finish one to make your lips look their best and give the most long-lasting finish.
