Have you ever felt like doing some working out or studying but didn’t have the motivation? In this article, I am going to introduce you to the snowball effect and how this can help boost your productivity and get more things done

What is the snowball effect?

The snowball effect goes as follows: You begin your day by planning out what to do.

You make your first task as easy as making your bed, so you start the productivity flow as soon as humanly possible.

What you want to do next is continue with a slightly harder task, such as doing the dishes, but not hard enough to get you demotivated. This will help continue with the productivity flow.

Now, you’ve got yourself some new-found motivation to do anything you have ever wanted to do but didn’t find motivation for.

And the reason it is called the snowball effect is that it functions just like a snowball rolling down a snowy road. At the start, it is a small snowball that can fit in your hand. But by the time it has gone down the cliff, it has turned into an enormous snowball half your size.

But if you spend too long doing something, won’t you become unmotivated again?

That’s why sometimes, you should take a little break from the draining acts and do something small again to gain momentum.

But neoklis, how will doing something unrelated to want I have wanted to do helps me with what I want to do?

The reason this technique is so useful is that, when you do something productive, even if it is something small such as making your bed, it can really boost your productivity levels because your mind is thinking: If I can do this, I can also write that essay due in 2 weeks, so the snowball effect is you playing mind games on yourself to be more productive.

All in all, this is a wonderful technique that I would recommend using along with the Pomodoro technique which you can read more about here.
