How to Activate BSP Pay using BSP SMS Banking for UPNG Online Application Fee Payment
This year, UPNG is using BSP Pay as the payment method for its online applications for non-school leaver undergraduate applications for 2023.
Note that there is no option to upload a fee receipt if you paid through a deposit at the bank. You will only pay through BSP Pay.
If you already use BSP SMS Banking you can easily log in to BSP Pay. You need a mobile number linked to your BSP account to receive a security code via SMS.
I will explain the UPNG online application in a separate article. The last section before submitting your application will be for application fee payment. You will be redirected to BSP Pay to make the K20 application fee payment.
If you don’t have BSP Pay or BSP SMS banking, you can save your online application first, then find someone with SMS banking to setup their BSP Pay before you resume the payment step. Give him your K20 and ask him to pay for you through BSP Pay. Maybe give extra cash for assistance.
Let’s see how to log into BSP Pay first. You will need to find your BSP ID.

If you do not know your CIF or BSP ID, use BSP SMS Banking to find it.

At this step, you will see your UserID.
You will also receive it in an SMS. This code is your CIF or BSP UserID. It is the same ID you can use to log into BSP Pay.
2. Go to the BSP website and log in to BSP Pay
Go to bsp.com.pg and click the Login button
You will see two options for Sign In: Personal Banking and BSP Pay.
Click BSP Pay. This will open up the BSP Pay login page.
On the BSP Pay login, enter your BSP ID. This is the UserID you found in your SMS Banking menu in the first step.
A security challenge will pop up, instructing you to click and drag the BSP logo on the bottom right to the BSP logo in the box on the bottom left.
Click CONTINUE, then click and drag the logo as indicated below.
You can now enter your BSP ID and click SIGN IN
You will receive a security code through SMS on the mobile number you use for SMS Banking.
Enter that security code, then click CONTINUE.
You will now log in to your BSP Pay Account.
Make sure you toggle the last option Use Online. This will activate BSP Pay for your account.
Note this last option is important, toggle the button Use Online until it is green. to authorize payments from your account. If not enabled, you can have a mobile number linked but your bank account is not linked to make payments on BSP Pay.
After you’ve confirmed your BSP Pay details to be correct, you can go back to the UPNG online application portal and make the K20 payment.
Note that in the application portal, the Pay and Submit button opens BSP Pay in a pop-up window. If you are clicking and not seeing any response, check your browser settings to ensure pop-ups are not blocked.
