As a reader and a fan of ChatGPT, I have always been impressed by its vast knowledge and ability to provide information on a wide range of topics. However, as I have used ChatGPT more and more, I have become increasingly concerned about the possibility of copyright infringement.

With ChatGPT’s access to so much book content, it is possible that it may be reproducing or distributing copyrighted material without permission. In this article, I will explore my concerns about ChatGPT and copyright, and discuss the potential legal implications of this issue.

In a previous post, I described how ChatGPT can be used to retrieve a significant amount of information from my favorite book, “Sapiens” by Yuval Noah Harari. Out of curiosity, I decided to see how much information ChatGPT had on recently released books. To do this, I ran some tests using Amazon’s bestsellers list. The results surprised me — I was able to retrieve a significant amount of content using ChatGPT.

Obtaining the desired content through ChatGPT is a relatively straightforward process.

  • One simply needs to request a list of book chapters.
