1. What is NeoLand?
NeoLand is a virtual world. In NeoLand, players design and build cities, together with other virtual residents. The game is 3D and in it, players explore the lands, collect resources, purchase lands, construct buildings, and trade with others. You can literally build a business, from scratch, just like in the real world.
It is also a virtual economy with thousands of trades done in the virtual world. More importantly, NEO, a leading cryptocurrency with millions of global users, are used as the main currency in NeoLand.
In conclusion, NeoLand is a virtual world, for business simulations but also FOR REAL.
2. What can I earn?
Any players earn some NEO by just “work” in the NeoLand. “Work” is literally walking around and click on the buildings and structures. Sometimes there are advertisements to read for better payouts. It is the first thing most players do before they start to invest. Pretty simple and give you some quick bucks (of NEO) if you are a fan of NEO. You can withdraw the NEOs you earned and sell them in any exchange.
But this is not what the game is for, a no-brainer click and earn or read-ad-and-earn type of platform. A lot of players purchase lands and construct building to set up a business. By doing so, not only they would generate better payouts, but also they are able to participate in champions organized by NEO, regular ones or special ones, to promote NEO and other NEO-based DAPPs. In addition, players also form guilds or even companies to work on large projects.
3. How do I play?
There is a general guide on how to register, down and play by the game operator.
Do watch out that you need an invitation code from someone who is already playing. The invitation code should end with “=NEOLAND” or otherwise it might land you in somewhere else.
4. The history of NeoLand.
It was first launched in 20 Dec 2018, only the Chinese version. 2 Months later the English version was available.
The NeoLand has 8100 pieces of land in total, segregated into 9 zones. Each zone has equally 900 pieces of land. The first zone, NeoLand Island 1, has sold out all of its 900 pieces of lands and hosted thousands of players now.
The second zone, NeoLand 2, was opened for auction of 90 pieces of lands in June 2019. The NeoLand 2 will open by end of July and there will be a gold rush expected then — a NEO rush. Players could now register and pre-purchase some buildings as well to kick start the game faster.
5. The Makers of NeoLand — NEO the Blockchain and NeoWorld the Virtual World
NEO the blockchain company is the one behind the game and supporting the economy. NEO, a global top 10 blockchain, is trading on most exchanges. The company describes itself as follows in its official website (https://neo.org/):
“NEO is an open source project driven by the community. It utilizes blockchain technology and digital identities to digitize assets and automate the management of digital assets using smart contracts. Using a distributed network, it aims to create a “Smart Economy”.
NEO was founded in 2014 and open sourced on GitHub in June 2015. Its MainNet was released in October 2016 and has been running in stable capacity for two years. Its vision of a “smart economy” was set up along with the project rebranding in 2017.”
The game operator is a Singapore based company NeoWorld (https://neoworld.io) with over 10 years experience of developing and managing simulation games.
6. How to survive the first week?
As NeoLand pays out generously NEO to all participating players, it is not as easy as any other Steam games. There is pretty high barrier of entry for proving yourself as not a robot (as a way to anti-spam). Surviving in NeoLand also takes patience and a bit of intelligence. After all, making money is always harder than spending it. Players are actually working for NEO and got paid in a sense and so pleasant game experience is not a must. No pain, no gain.
However, there are still ways to help beginners to quickly get used to the game, especially the first few days. Here is the quick and dirty guide:
HAPPINESS VALUE & ENERGY VALUE — THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
Working, Collecting and Building are the best parts of the game. And like in the real world, with out Energy & Happiness, you can’t even do such a thing. Let’s find out some interesting information about the 2 values:
1/ A new player starts with 30 energy points and 1,000 happiness points. He/She can increase the total cap by training the “Workaholic” skill (first skills to invest if you are going the working career path)
2/ Work and R&D action consumes 5 happiness points for each point of energy used. Happiness value determines whether a player can work at buildings with different levels of enjoyability.
3/ Gather and Produce action consumes 5 happiness (10 point is charged in NEOLAND). 25 happiness will be spent to use the treasure map.
How to recover?
1/ “Relax” at your apartment — 50 points (NeoLand players receive a free apartment after registration!!!)
2/ Visit Rare buildings — from 50 to 200 points
3/ Wish at Wonders “Speeding Up” — 200 points
4/ Click “Like” other’s land- 10 points
5/ Click ”Take a Rest” at other’s land- 30 points
6/ Drink a Purple Bull — 50 points
1/ “Rest” at your apartment — 30–100% of the max. energy depending on the Happiness value (make sure you are happy when resting)
2/ Wish at wonders “Model Worker” — 50% of the max. energy
3/ Visit to a tourist attraction — 5 points
7. What are the important things to watch out in NeoLand?
The game design is very complex. Take it step by step, and talk to expertise in the game by following the conversion in http://t.me/neoworldio . Also watch out announcements in the websites (http://blog.neoworld.io/) or twitter (NeoWorld Tech) for periodic update. The rules of the game changes from time to time.
There are some interesting features to watch out:
1/ NRO. NeoLand Rare Ore. This is another important resources in the NeoLand, and you can purchase it in the game. This is widely used for a lot of transactions, such as auction and building factories. This is like the fuel of the NeoLand economy and the market price changes all the time. Or you can simply become a NRO trader, like an oil trading tycoon, if you know the market beats well! You can purchase NRO directly in the game (extreme left, button RO with 2 circling arrows):
2/ Technology and research. Most of players, whether workers or builders, head straight to the four major industries like culture or service. It is true that these industries give your payouts directly. But in the long-run, your investment in technology will give you better returns, if you want to build a big empire. Technology is often more scarce for high-end constructions.
3/ Skills. Earlier we have mentioned “Workaholic”. It doubles your returns if you choose working as a main task in NeoLand. There are a variety of other skills that you should master in accordance with your career path and investment strategies.
8. What are the advanced game plays?
We have seen a number of other players active in different businesses. For instance, there are players who focus on hoarding technology. There are players trying to monopolies the production of NRO, in both markets and the factory output level. there are players who organize guilds of workers in game to negotiate with landlords and factory owners for better payouts. There are also players dedicated in trading materials amongst different groups to make arbitraging profits.

Or search “NeoLand” in the official website of NeoWorld under the Released Notes tag (https://blog.neoworld.io/) and you can also down a manual for general matters of how to play the game (http://neoworldres.com/download/NeoWorld_manual_en_20190612.pdf Note that this is not only specific to NeoLand but leads you to a whole new dimension of things… )
NeoLand is like a real economy and an emerging one. There are no rules on what you cannot do. There is also no blueprint on what you should do. This is why we find it interesting and challenging — unlimited ways to explore and create. The below is a part of NeoLand — where everything is designed and built by a NEO community member.
