GIT Adventure begins

I finally got GIT installed and the environment set up on my windows machine. It was quite a pain; it took me several hours to git everything configured and working together. There was much googling to get sublime text and heroku to play with git bash.
I then worked through the vikingcodeschool git exercises to practice working on a repo and pushing it to github. Then as review I did the GIT Real track on CodeSchool and on Codecademy. All of these are good, but they don’t help you to set up the environment and get everything working properly. They only help with learning the commands necessary to do the work.
Now on to doing a little javascript on Codecademy.
I’m also reading Soft Skills: The software developer’s life manual by John Sonmez. So far it seems to have some good tips for being a well-rounded developer and achieving some sort of work-life balance. More to come…
