Artificial Intelligence and Jobs: Nerd Geek Lab

This very good article of opinion addresses a subject that is attracting more and more attention and leads to more dialogues. Will artificial intelligence destroy jobs? Author Kai-Fu Lee has an opinion:

It will soon be obvious that half of our tasks can be accomplished almost at no cost by AI and robots. It will be the fastest transition humanity has ever known and we are not ready

A very important message from the play addresses a question of the future; ie what accelerators and obstacles influence the trajectory of scenarios such as AI, and what are the implications? The author describes what can be called in this case the China effect. China’s tendency to dominate AI is an accelerator. Although some voices call for stronger regulation of AI in the face of fears of a possible uniqueness, others will continue. In doing so, the pressure to keep pace is a likely outcome. Another quote:

The advent of China as an AI superpower is not a big deal for China. Competition between the US and China has led to intense advances in artificial intelligence that will be impossible to stop anywhere.

The bottom line of the authors: these changes happen, they arrive quickly and society is not ready for that. The article articulates the main arguments against this bottom line:

Kai-Fu Lee is the founder and CEO of Sinovation Ventures and President of the Sinovation Ventures Artificial Intelligence Institute.
