How to Use a Hardware Wallet with Neuron
Neuron manages users’ assets defaultly by the internal software key management. While hardware wallets like Ledger could provide a higher security level, which makes it a perfect key storage method for some crypto users. This tutorial will help you to connect your hardware wallet to Neuron, and manage your assets on Nervos CKB. It will take Ledger Nano X as the example, but other hardware wallets should be the same.
Preparation
1. You’ve downloaded the latest Neuron desktop software, and installed it correctly.
2. You’ve initialized your Ledger Device (Nano S or X) with the latest firmware.
3. Ledger Live software is ready to use.
4. Install the latest version of Nervos App in the Ledger Store from Ledger Live.
Install The Nervos App
1. Open the Manager in Ledger Live.
2. Connect and unlock your Ledger Device.
3. If asked, follow the onscreen instructions and Allow Ledger Manager.
4. Find Nervos App in the app catalog.
5. Click the Install button and confirm the process.
6. Exit Ledger Live.
Connecting to Neuron
1. Connect your Ledger device to the computer, and unlock it.
2. Open the Nervos App on your Ledger device.
3. Ledger device will display “Application is ready”.
4. Open the Neuron application.
5. Click the “Wallet => Import Wallet => Import Hardware Wallet” on the top menu bar.
6. Select your Ledger device model and confirm.
1. The main page will show after these steps.
2. The Neuron wallet needs to sync with blockchain for quite a while. Typically, you need up to 5 hours with a good internet connection and SSD drive if you haven’t synced before. But if you have already synced up before, your CKB balance will show up immediately after connecting with Ledger devices.
Receiving Assets
1. Make sure you’ve connected your Ledger device to your Neuron account.
2. Connect your Ledger device to the computer, and unlock it.
3. Open the Nervos App on your Ledger device.
4. Click and navigate to “Receive page”.
5. Copy the QR code or address to the sender.
Operating Assets
With Ledger support, you can send multi assets like CKB/sUDT/NFT to another address, or deposit/withdraw CKB to/from NervosDAO.
1. Make sure you’ve connected your Ledger device to your Neuron account.
2. Connect your Ledger device to the computer, and unlock it.
3. Open the Nervos App on your Ledger device.
4. Operate your assets in Neuron wallet, when it comes the final confirmation, a transaction notification will popup on Ledger device.
5. Please double confirm the information about the transaction on Neuron, and click “Sign”.
6. The transaction details will be shown on the Ledger device, and please confirm or reject it on Ledger device after verification.
7. Neuron will broadcast the transaction.
8.The new balance will then be visible on the Neuron Overview page.
