Review: Great addition to the series. Kendra is one of three my favorite Regency investigators. This book was a little less about investigation and a little more about Kendra and her emotional self-discovery. It was nice to see her realizing that this people she met in the Past are really her family. It is sweet she can’t see how deeply they love her back. On romantic level the ending was so sweet and full of “Ohhhhh!” I am also intrigued by the secondary romance, and how it will turn out in the next books. For now it doesn’t seems to have any possible future. The murder mystery was nice, thought I knew who is the killer from the beginning. Actually it was a little sad. The Duke’s daughter sub-plot was nice, but a little rushed. But in overall both plot lines worked quite well.

Review: Shadows in Time is a masterclass in weaving together multiple threads to create a fast-paced story on many exciting levels. In this novel, Kendra has two mysteries to solve — find a murderer on a professional level and expose a case of false identity on a personal level. I liked Kendra more in this novel than in any of the others in the series because Julie has done an excellent job on revealing her heroine’s inner self, especially her feelings of insecurity and jealousy. Many readers will also connect with Kendra over her fear of long-term romantic commitment. As a former professor of British literature, I thought the contrasts of Regency and 21st century cultures were extremely well done, adding balance to the time travel theme. Julie also layered the story with colorful Spanish history, which enriched the narrative. Like Julie’s many dedicated fans, I’m already looking forward to her next book. Review by Susan

Review: I’ve been waiting for this book for awhile, read it in two days. I recommend it to fans of the series but I can see it working as a stand alone read if you like a combination of a dash of time travel, detective stories and romance in and English setting.-Spoiler alert-I decided to write this review because by this point in the series I love the relationships Kendra has with the eclectic mystery solving group, I enjoyed those moments so much more than the mystery itself. Definitely wouldn’t mind more pages of those.The fatherly dynamic of her relationship with the Duke specially with the story arc in this particular book was sweet knowing Kendra’s past.I appreciate that Alec knows Kendra and I’m totally here for that romance.Hope you enjoy this book!

Review: Somewhere between 3.5–4 Stars. Therefore, I gave it four.As usual the story is very engaging and well written. This is the main reason why I read this author.There are two mysteries. One pertinent to an actual murder and the other to Kendra’s development.The second mystery, which at first seems to be of secondary significance, challenges Kendra’s biases and inner longings. Despite doubting herself she doesn’t shy away from her suspicions to pursue what she believes is right.In the end she finds love that she never had in her time. It’s becomes abundantly clear that her clearest path to self-fulfillment is in the 19th century.The author really succeeds in getting the readers to empathize with her self-recognition.However, the suspense and intrigue doesn’t start until the end and seems to end quickly. Also there is a little of a manufactured feel.In addition, the issue of time travel and resolution of how she got there is not resolved as I have written in the past two reviews in this series.Also, another unnerving tertiary result stems from this issue. How can she make any commitments to anyone not knowing how long she’ll be around? Perhaps some random time warp will constitute itself at any moment whisking her away to some other Century?Additionally, on page 147 she says in everyone’s presence that “the window was big enough to fly a 747 through” without anyone questioning her?

Review: The only problem with the Kendra Donovan series is that they’re so good I just gobble them up in a short time, and then am forced to wait until another comes out. I LOVED this book!! I sincerely hope the author is writing the next book in the series because I can’t wait to see what happens next with Kendra and Alec. It would be great to see how Kendra’s character juggled her advancing relationship with Alec while still being true to herself and solving crimes. Also, I don’t want Kendra to go back to the 21st Century. Oh, unless, she is taken there under duress and Alec goes to save her. It might be interesting to see his character in the 21st Century. ????PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE write another!

For anyone who isn’t familiar with the story, she’s a modern-day FBI agent fallen back in time and basically stuck there.This installment has two mysteries to be solved simultaneously and one of them is right in the house of the Duke of Aldridge.It’s a great story and I love following along and trying to figure out who did it.before it’s uncovered. The end of the book also gives us a step forward in Kendra and Alec’s relationship.A great series if you enjoy historical mysteries!!

Review: This is #5 in the series and I love the whole series. If you like time travel, this is a little different. The main character is in the FBI and ends up in the 1800’s. It’s so totally different for women in that time period. She does find a way to solve crimes and use her FBI skills, even though it is extremely odd for a woman in that century. There’s mystery and romance and historical background which I enjoy. You’ll like these book, too!
